Adult Services

Cordis Bright helps its clients to provide the best possible social care and supported living for adults.

We have a broad and deep understanding of the adult social care, health and housing sectors. Our unique perspective comes from our:

  • In-house experience of the practice of social care. Our consultants have been practitioners earlier in their careers, ranging from social workers to director-level professionals, and people who have worked in integrated services across the NHS and local authorities
  • Experience in both the statutory and independent sectors, giving us an excellent perspective on commissioning as a whole
  • Experience of working with all adult care service user groups
  • Absolute commitment to delivering work which is grounded in experience and reality, and advice which our clients can implement in practice
  • Consultancy and research skills developed specifically for the social care sector

What we do in adult services

Cordis Bright provides consultancy and research across the full spectrum of adult social care, health and supported living services, including mental health, homelessness, learning disability, physical disability, domestic violence, alcohol and drugs, older people and BME-specific services.

Our services include:

Consultancy

We offer clients practical and informed consultancy. Projects range from trouble shooting problems with individual services through to broad strategic and organisational issues.

We are particularly experienced in providing advice on:

  • Strategy and commissioning: helping our clients to deal with operational and strategic questions around integrated and single agency commissioning, value for money and relationships with providers
  • Partnership working: we work with our clients and their partners across the statutory and independent sectors, local government and health and criminal justice systems
  • Needs, outcomes and performance analysis and improvement
  • Divestment strategies when it is appropriate to exit from provision

See consultancy for more information about what we do.

Research

We have a strong in-house research team and can provide research and analysis ranging from the needs of local populations and evidence-based practice to central government spending, guidance and policy. See research for more on what we do.

Consultation and involvement

Many organisations struggle to carry out effective consultation with users, carers, stakeholders and staff, particularly with excluded groups. We have built considerable skills and experience in this area. See inclusion, involvement and consultation.

Evaluations and service reviews

Cordis Bright has a wealth of experience in conducting evaluations and service reviews for a range of services, such as Partnership for Older People initiatives. See evaluations for more on what we do.

Performance improvement and turnaround

We work with clients who want to improve their services, providing reviews, support and advice. This can range from examination of performance, financial modelling and value for money analysis to staff coaching, mentoring and training programmes. See performance improvement and turnaround for more information.

Inspection support

We offer health checks and both pre and post inspection support to providers of adult services. For example, we recently helped a provider of extra care sheltered housing to prepare for registration and inspection as a domiciliary care agency. See inspection support for more information.

We also offer Service Modernisation through commissioning, major change management and / or a focus on front line practise.

Who we work with in adult services

Cordis Bright works primarily with local authorities, but also with Primary Care Trusts and Mental Health Trusts where they are working in social care partnerships (see health). We also work with independent providers of social care and social housing (see independent sector).Adult Commissioning diagram
