Research and evaluation

Research

Our in-house research team is skilled in a range of quantitative and qualitative research methods and in working with complex primary and secondary datasets. We work collaboratively with our clients to help define research questions and the best methodologies to take. Our researchers are focused on providing practical and accurate answers to clients' real questions. We offer intellectual rigour combined with realism and a can do approach.

Skills and experience that our clients have found particularly valuable include:

  • Financial and economic analysis: we have a particular expertise in the identification of cashable savings which may be achieved through investment in early intervention and prevention services.
  • Engaging with marginalised and excluded groups: much of our primary research involves engaging with groups traditionally perceived as 'hard-to-reach', such as young offenders, people with learning disabilities, Black and minority ethnic communities, and young children. We have developed innovative techniques to consult with and engage these groups.
  • Undertaking statistical analysis: we are skilled at producing robust statistical analysis of complex datasets, using SPSS (Statistical Package of the Social Sciences). At the same time, we are able to present results and analysis in a concise and accessible way for a range of audiences.
  • Mapping and geographical analysis: we have in-house GIS (Geographic Information System) expertise and can produce geographic and thematic maps. Placing data into a map brings a level of clarity that can't be achieved by looking at numbers alone.

Evaluation

Cordis Bright offers project and programme evaluations, audits, and service reviews for the statutory and independent sectors. Our evaluations can include:

  • Assessment of impact and outcomes
  • Judgements on value for money
  • Economic appraisal, especially in relation to the impact of preventative and early intervention services
  • Achievement of national standards and effective practice
  • Success at achieving outputs and reach
  • Effectiveness at implementing new responsibilities
  • Ensuring accountability for expenditure from external agencies

We help you to get the most value out of your evaluation by drawing out operational and strategic recommendations that are both informed and practical.
