Kam has extensive knowledge in the fields of Youth Justice and Probation, with a particular focus on integrated children's services. She is currently involved in working with a number of Youth Offending Teams, undertaking both pre- and post-inspection work, including preparation for Joint Area Reviews. Other work has involved writing Youth Justice and Race and Audit Action Plans, as well as reviewing team structures, focusing on change management, risk assessments and performance management, whilst also ensuring that work is evidence-based.
Before joining Cordis Bright Kam worked for the Home Office (Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Probation) and has experience of Youth Offending Team, Probation, and Supporting People Inspections. Whilst at HMIP she completed an extensive thematic project on offender accommodation / resettlement which was published in 2005, other specialist work has included working in Northern Ireland advising on serious crime and MAPPA legislation. Prior to joining the Inspectorate Kam managed Westminster Youth Offending Team and has specialist expertise in developing Victim and Restorative Justice work. She also has a wide range of experience working with Merseyside Probation Service and across children's residential units, secure units and prisons.
