Yvette has considerable knowledge in the fields of private public law regarding children, young people and youth justice. She is currently involved in working with a number of local authorities around safeguarding children, including work with Local Safeguarding Children Boards, performance management, coaching and mentoring leadership teams and working with Youth Offending Teams (YOT). Recently she has been placed at a council as an Interim Assistant Director offering advice and leadership on safeguarding following a Joint Area Review report which raised concerns about provision, practice, management and leadership in this area.
Before joining Cordis Bright, Yvette worked as an inspector for the Commission for Social Care Inspection, (formerly the Social Services Inspectorate). She has had experience of youth offending, children's services, residential care (including the secure estate) and voluntary sector inspections. During her time with the Inspectorate she was seconded to MCSI (Magistrate Court Service Inspectorate) inspecting CAFCASS, and latterly to HMIP inspecting YOTs. As a lead inspector, Yvette was able to build effective working relationships with staff. She has been able to apply these skills as a senior consultant, often working with staff who are experiencing difficulties. She has excellent analytical skills and is able to effectively identify strengths and areas for development for an organisation.
Yvette is a registered social worker. She has worked for 15 years with local authority social services departments working at practitioner and management levels. Areas of work have included offering outreach support to families at risk of breakdown due to issues including drug abuse and domestic violence, and with children and young people who have offended or are at risk of offending.
