Prior to joining Cordis Bright, Dorothy gained experience working as a personal care aide for individuals with disabilities and a tutor to young children. She assisted in a veterinary parasitology research lab on her undergraduate campus. Dorothy volunteered with the Diaper Bank of Connecticut where she led fundraisers for their efforts to end diaper need and period poverty. She also volunteered as a certified sexual assault victim advocate for the Women and Family’s Center.

   

Dorothy has a BSc in Biology and a BA in English Literature from Quinnipiac University as well as a MSc in Public Health with a concentration in Environment and Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. As a part of Dorothy’s Master’s dissertation, she conducted a time series analysis to explore the association between ambient heat and emergency c-sections in South Africa to better understand the relationship between climate and maternal and neonatal health outcomes.

Dorothy’s skills include:

  • Conducting secondary data analyses in STATA, R, and Excel
  • Working with local organisations to promote accessibility in public health services for hard-to-reach communities
  • Working within a team and with different stakeholders to produce collaborative research
  • Drafting literature reviews regarding public health services and policy
