The relationship between family violence and youth offending

A report for the LGA.

This rapid evidence assessment provides an introduction to the question of the relationship between family violence and youth offending. It asks three key questions:

  1. What evidence exists to support a link between family violence and involvement in youth offending?
  2. If a link does exist, are there factors that moderate the relationship between family violence and subsequent involvement in youth offending?
  3. What public health interventions are available to prevent offending among children and young people who have experienced family violence?

The research was undertaken on behalf of the LGA in partnership with Chanon Consulting.
