Almost a week on from the 35th celebration of Black History Month, we’re pleased to publish this Cordis Bright bulletin, exploring disproportionality experienced by Black people across the sectors that we work in.
This bulletin provides stark evidence that there are still challenges facing Black people and highlights the scale of inequality that exists. At Cordis Bright we are committed to educating ourselves about racism in the past and in the present, and hope this bulletin can help people recognise the ongoing challenges faced by Black people and other ethnic minority groups.
The theme for this year’s Black History month is “Time for Change: Action Not Words”. As vital as it is to acknowledge the past to learn from it, this theme underpins the fact that acknowledgement must be accompanied by a commitment to tackle racism wherever and whenever it persists. At Cordis Bright, we work towards improving outcomes for people and want to ensure that the spotlight placed on racial inequality during Black History Month continues throughout the rest of the work we do. We are developing a toolkit for colleagues to help guarantee that equality and diversity are central components of the work we are involved in and to help develop conversations on these important issues with the people and organisations we work with.
We hope that this bulletin provides valuable and interesting information and can help stimulate further conversations about ways to better understand and address disproportionality.
