At Cordis Bright, we are proud to be celebrating Learning Disability Week 2025, which runs from 16th to 22nd of June. The theme for this year's Learning Disability week is "Do you see me?" about people with a learning disability being seen, heard, included and valued.
To gear up for the week, we have held a session exploring the systems that exist to support people with a learning disability, and recent proposed changes to Personal Independence Payments (PIP). We reflected on what it means to navigate this system, and the role that service user voice, co-production, and best practice standards play, drawing on some of our recent project work including service reviews and research into employment support.
Next, we plan to delve deeper by sharing reflections and findings from our recent – and timely – research for Mencap exploring the additional costs of living with a learning disability, in light of upcoming PIP changes. You can find the full report here. Watch this space for the project team’s takeaways.
This topic is important to us, and we plan to continue reflecting and learning beyond the observation week. One route for this is our quarterly Cordis Briefing, where we share presentations and hold discussions about developments in social care and what they mean for people and those who support them.
If you have questions or would like to continue the conversation, please get in touch with Matt Irani for more information.
