Across June, we plan to both celebrate and commemorate lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) pride.

At Cordis Bright, we have decided to centre our focus on the lives and experiences of older members of the LGBTQ+ community. This group experience particular challenges, as they face the intersection of ageism and homophobia or transphobia, and some having particularly challenging lived experience of life before the gay liberation movement of the 1960s and 1970s.

We have three main activities planned:

• A special edition of the Cordis Pulse which will highlight recent research exploring the experiences of older LGBTQ+ people, especially in relation to social care.
• A Cordis Bright social involving a queer walking tour of London.
• A knowledge exchange providing a deep-dive into some of the experiences of LGBTQ+ older people.

We'll share these resources and any reflections here over the course of the month.
