As part of our Pride month celebrations, the Cordis Bright team joined Mark from London with a Local on a queer walking tour of Soho.
Some of our main takeaways were:
- London has had queer people and queer spaces since at least Roman times. That means over 2,000 years of queer history in London alone.
- London’s architecture has helped to shape, and been shaped by, the LGBTQI+ community.
- Lesbian bars have had a fraught history and we were surprised to learn that there is now only one bar dedicated to lesbians in London: She Bar.
- Safe spaces for different groups within the LGBTQI+ community is really important and active effort is needed to ensure this and protect these spaces.
- There is a real risk that the rights and safety of LGBTQI+ are at risk and this is particularly the case for trans people.
