Charlie Taylor’s report on the future of youth justice will be published in summer 2016. If the Youth Offending Team Stocktake report (May 2015) is a guide, the sector can expect significant reductions in funding and substantial restructuring.

Cordis Bright is one of the leading providers of support on youth justice. We've worked with about 60 youth offending services as well as the Youth Justice Board and Ministry of Justice. Based on this experience, we believe that there are two main potential courses of action that may come out of Charlie Taylor’s report:

1. A recommendation that local authorities organise youth offending support on a regional basis.

2. A recommendation to remove the requirement to establish multi-agency youth offending teams.

In a two-part series, Cordis Bright examines some of the issues that local authorities will need to think about in each scenario. Part 1 (see below) looks at this first scenario. Part 2 (see separate post) examines the second scenario.
