Louise has a first-class degree in History from the University of Cambridge and completed a Master's in Social Work and Graduate Certificates in Health Informatics and Injury Prevention at the University of Michigan as a UK 2019-20 Fulbright Scholar.
During her time at Cordis Bright, she has designed and delivered research and evaluation projects across diverse sectors. She brings practice and research expertise in violence against women and girls.
Prior to joining Cordis Bright, she worked in the UK and internationally as a frontline advocate with survivors of domestic abuse, a specialist technological abuse adviser and trainer addressing safeguarding in healthcare settings. She managed a Center for Disease Control funded project providing sexual assault prevention training to university undergraduates, pursued quantitative research addressing online harassment and managed the research portfolio for the Havens, a network of sexual assault referral centres. Outside of Cordis Bright, she continues to work at the Havens out of hours as a Crisis Worker supporting adults and young people during forensic examinations following sexual assaults.
Louise's research experience includes:
- Analysing large datasets, including survey data and national statistics, running statistical analyses and generating data visualisations.
- Running focus groups and interviews to obtain feedback from diverse stakeholders including service users with complex needs, children and young people and vulnerable adults.
- Conducting qualitative research with strategic stakeholders and community groups.
- Undertaking thorough and high-quality literature reviews, needs assessments and project evaluations.
- Developing surveys, interview topic guides and evaluation frameworks.
- Writing comprehensive research reports, briefings and policy briefs.
Louise’s recent and current projects include:
- Impact and process evaluation of the Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Grassroots Fund, 2023-25 for the London Community Foundation, which aims to support grassroots ‘by and for’ organisations addressing VAWG within minoritised and marginalised communities in London.
- Evaluation of a weight management service for men aged 45+ from Black ethnic backgrounds for Southwark Council, using mixed methods to investigate the theory and practice behind the programme and assess the programme’s impact on participants.
- Implementation and process evaluation of Changemakers, a new programme aiming to increase the use of evidence-based parenting programmes in local areas, for Foundations,
- Delivery of a feasibility study of the Emotion Coaching parenting programme for domestic abuse survivors for the Youth Endowment Fund (YEF), including coordinating the co-design and adaptation phases, study design, project set-up, providing close support to delivery teams and co-producing the final evaluation report.
- Multi-year evaluation of Shaping Places for Healthier Lives, a multi-site research project for the Health Foundation, which generated learning about how local authorities can take a complex system approach to tackling different health challenges by addressing the wider determinants of health.
- Process evaluation of the implementation of GamCare’s Lived Experience Peer Support service, which included facilitating workshops with the service team to co-create a Theory of Change.
- Research around mapping the gap between demand and need for autistic adults for the Autism Alliance, including mapping of supply in the social care sector; qualitative consultation with service providers and triangulating these with survey responses from commissioners, practitioners and caregivers.
- Research on safeguarding of children and adults from domestic abuse and other harms in child contact centres for the Ministry of Justice, which included conducting qualitative fieldwork, quality assuring analysis and undertaking reporting.
